National Public Banking Alliance is a coalition of organizations working to create socially and environmentally responsible public banks.

The Bank of North Dakota, established 1919, was for a long time the only public bank in the United States. It has helped its citizens weather economic downturns, provided student loans, and supported small businesses. While we seek to create a public bank that also focuses on environmental and social justice, the success of the Bank of North Dakota is an example to learn from.
